Minors protection policy

This policy protects users under 18. MEG is operated by BARTIK; contact for minors and parents: contact@myedugabon.com.

Proposed service rule: account access from age 16; for 16–17 year olds, verified prior consent from a parent or legal guardian for collection and processing of data. Features incompatible with this protection must remain unavailable.

Ordinance n°0011/PR/2026 sets digital majority at 16 and regulates younger users’ accounts. MEG’s educational purpose does not presume an exception. Interaction of articles 17 and 22, qualification of MEG services, implementing texts and any separate school pathway: unavailable. Until then, no under-16 accounts are planned under this draft.

Before collecting a minor’s record, the parent receives an explanation of data, purposes, recipients, retention and rights. Consent is explicit, dated and tied to the version of information provided. MEG proportionately verifies it comes from a person exercising parental authority.

v1 pathway: student sign-up requires a date of birth. Under 16: refused. Ages 16–17: email of a holder of parental authority (different from the student’s email), unique /parental-consent/[token] link, name and relationship declaration, consent checkbox. The account stays restricted (except the waiting page, settings and sign-out) until it is recorded. Proof: parental_consents table (email, name, declared relationship, notice version, timestamp). Proportionate verification: possession of the parent email and an explicit declaration — this is not identity-document KYC. A box checked by the child alone does not provide this guarantee.

The parent may withdraw consent at contact@myedugabon.com. Dependent features are then stopped; data is erased except where legally necessary, explained to parent and minor.

Proposed protection rules to apply: non-public profile by default, access limited to authorised contacts, no public display of contact details and transcripts, direct contact from unidentified people disabled by default.

The company or school receives only what is needed for the application or authorised follow-up. Settings, filters and reporting must suit the user’s age and not encourage excessive data sharing.

Users must not solicit intimate content, unnecessary documents or exchanges unrelated to the service from a minor.

Profiling of children is prohibited under article 193 of law n°025/2023, except exceptional conditions linked to their best interests or public interest, after reasoned opinion or APDPVP authorisation.

Parental consent alone is not enough to authorise a score or profiling. APS, personalised ranking, matching and the scored orientation test remain disabled under 18, even after parental consent. At 18, parental status becomes “not required”; no analytics consent or optional recommendation is switched on automatically.

Simple OCR extraction is not automatically profiling; using it to evaluate or rank a child may fall under this prohibition. General information and user-chosen search may be offered without evaluating their profile.

The minor or their parent may request explanation, correction, access or erasure under the law at contact@myedugabon.com or privacy@myedugabon.com. MEG verifies identity and, for the parent, claimed authority, while respecting privacy and the child’s interest. The usual response deadline for rights is one month; details are in the privacy policy.

For cyberbullying or harmful content involving a minor, use contact@myedugabon.com (subject “Report”) or the contact form. MEG must acknowledge within 24 hours and handle the report with decision notification within 72 hours. Effective tracking of these deadlines: unavailable. In immediate danger, contact competent authorities and a trusted adult.

An account identified as a minor without required safeguards must be restricted during regularisation; deletion complies with proof and protection obligations. At 18, choices are reviewed with the user: no optional consent is activated automatically.

MEG can help you prepare applications and internships. Share only what is asked and useful. Never give your password. You can ask what your information is used for and have errors corrected.

If someone makes you uncomfortable, do not send them anything more. Report it to MEG and talk to a trusted adult. A score does not sum up your worth and you can ask for a person to review your file.
